Witkoff's remarks come after he and CENTCOM chief Admiral Brad Cooper confimed that Israeli forces in Gaza had withdrawn to the lines agreed upon in the Trump ceasefire plan.

He noted that one of the main objectives of the war, alongside achieving the release of the hostages, was removing the Iranian threat, including the regime's proxies: Hamas and Hezbollah. 

Social Equality and Advancement of Women Minister May Golan also addressed Kushner at the meeting, saying that though Israel wants peace, there is no one on the "other side" who wants it as well.

“Within about two weeks, the first command post will be established in the Strip, with 200 American troops assisting in its construction,” the official said.
