Supreme Court President Justice Isaac Amit's letter follows comments issued by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich in which the minister referred to Amit as a “violent, predatory megalomaniac."

The procedure accompanies a recently passed amendment that restricts the photographing and publication of identifying images of suspects held in custody before an indictment is filed.

The judicial branch's spokesperson said Smotrich's attack on Yitzhak Amit does not amount to "legitimate public discourse," in response to the finance minister.

Maslouhi was convicted in 1994 of offenses stemming from a plot to kidnap and rob Attar, who was shot during the incident, critically wounded, and later died of his injuries.

Defense Minister Israel Katz announced the decision to shutter the military broadcaster last week, with the closure slated to take effect in March.

The court rejected challenges to Zini’s integrity and the process behind his appointment, saying there were no grounds for judicial review. Justice Amit dissented, citing procedural flaws.

In the aftermath of the two-year Israel-Hamas War, the necessity of a national commission of inquiry into the causes of the October 7 massacre and the initial failure to contain it is clear as day.

The Defense Ministry denied the claim, saying no instruction had been issued to terminate consultant contracts at the station and that contracts would be extended until February 28, 2026

"At this preliminary stage, the Government has failed to identify a source of authority that would allow the military to execute the laws in Illinois," the court's majority declared.
