The resolution, which is non-binding, is the latest instance of Republican support for Israeli territorial claims in the West Bank.

The government agreed to split the hilltop community of Kochav Yaakov into two settlements, despite European and American opposition.

Yitzhak Goldknopf said that based on visits he had made there, "part of the solution to the housing crisis lies in these areas!"

Gantz has frozen the advancement of housing plans for West Bank settlements as part of his re-election campaign, the Yesha Council claimed.
