Ofer Cassif
Ofer Cassif is an Israeli politician who, under Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid's coalition government, served as the Jewish representative in the Arab Joint List party.
During a protest in April 2021 in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah, Cassif was beaten by police. By the end of the demonstration he required medical attention.
The protest was one of many by Arabs against Jews during a court case to determine the eviction of Arab residents from the neighborhood.
Cassif was a professor and a lecturer before his pursuit of politics began in 2019.
