NYPD figures show antisemitic hate crimes surged in New York City in January, with Jews targeted in the majority of reported bias incidents.

Police said the case was being handled as a possible bias incident and involved the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force. 

“Chants in support of a terrorist organization have no place in our city,” Mamdani wrote over a picture of a New York Times headline about his earlier comments on the protest. 

The X account, which also had the tag "BXSniper," also expressed animosity toward white people and US President Donald Trump, who was described as a devil and pedophile.

This demonstration will not only be the first major pro-Palestinian protest in NYC since Mamdani took office, but also follows a similar protest in November that shocked NYC.

Twenty-three-year-old Armani Charles was charged with attempted assault, assault, and menacing with hate crime modifiers, and aggravated harassment for stabbing a Jewish man in a street altercation.

The 82-page ruling, by Judge Nina R. Morrison of the Eastern District of New York, effectively strips both the district attorney and the city of the legal immunity they usually have.

Officials said the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and released from Kings County Hospital.
