A shooting in Kyiv's Holosiivskyi district left six dead, including a hostage, after a Russian-born man opened fire on passersby before barricading himself in a supermarket, where police killed him.

Speaking with The Media Line on Holocaust Remembrance Day, Markovitch said he sees it as a responsibility. “This is something I live with,” he said. “Something I feel.” 

Necessity is the mother of invention, so the saying goes, and Ukraine has had to innovate. Like Israel, Ukraine is an innovator in drones and unmanned ground vehicles.

New billboards have focused on the family, with Ukrainian soldiers carrying babies on their shoulders or raising them above their heads, embracing their mothers and elders.

"This barbaric attack once again proves that Putin's place is not at the board of peace, but at the dock of the special tribunal," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha wrote on X.
