The Tourism Ministry is taking its culture to the streets of America this month with the launch of the Taste of Israel, Food Truck Tour 2026.
Starting October 25 in North Miami Beach, Florida, a specially designed food truck will embark on a multi-state journey, serving free, authentic kosher-style Israeli food curated by chef Yossi Shitrit.
The culinary initiative aims to introduce the American public to the diverse flavors of Israel, bridging the gap between local culture and international tourism. Operating from 12 to 3 p.m. at each stop, the truck will feature traditional dishes, vegetarian options, and ambient Israeli music. Admission and food samples are entirely free to the public.
After Miami, the truck will travel through another three major US cities. On October 27, it will be in Atlanta; Nashville the following day; and Dallas on October 30.
Shitrit said that his menu is deeply rooted in personal history and cultural fusion.
The convergence of culinary traditions that define Israeli food
“For me, everything begins with taste and memory,” he said. “Even when I create a new dish, the flavors of home are always present. That is what I want to bring along on this journey: the warmth, the generosity, and the convergence of traditions that define Israeli cuisine.”
Michael Izhakov, director-general of the ministry, said the campaign hopes to build a sensory connection to Israel.
“One taste is all it takes to fall in love,” he stated. “Together with chef Yossi Shitrit, we are bringing the flavors and aromas of Israel to the American public: from the spice markets of Jerusalem to the beachfront restaurants of Tel Aviv, and from the Galilee to the Negev.”
The food truck project, produced by the Narrative Group, is an experiential extension of the ongoing “I AM ISRAEL” marketing campaign. Since its launch in June, the digital campaign has generated over 320 million impressions and reached more than 70 million unique users, prompting the ministry to expand its reach into Canada and the United Kingdom.
The strategic focus on American consumers aligns with critical tourism data. The United States remains Israel’s largest source market for inbound tourism. From January through September of this year, 295,000 American tourists arrived in Israel, making up approximately 37% of all inbound travelers. This builds on last year’s footprint, where 448,000 Americans accounted for roughly 34% of total visitors.
By taking the campaign offline and onto the streets, officials hope to sustain this momentum and turn a casual lunch break into a future travel itinerary.
