NATIONAL AFFAIRS: The choreography surrounding the Netanyahu-Trump meeting has fueled speculation about a widening rift - and whether Israel and the US remain coordinated on Iran.

"I feel... that the level of intimacy in the relationship has been damaged. Israel’s influence on decision-making in the US has diminished greatly," former ambassador to the US Mike Herzog said.

Reza Pahlavi emerged as the most visible candidate to lead a post-regime Iran, but US resistance, donor frustration, and opposition divisions have weakened his campaign.

Netanyahu departed from Israel earlier on Monday for the talks with Trump in Washington, where the two are expected to discuss the situation with Iran, alongside other issues.

“The central danger is miscalculation. The conflict could become region-wide with very little warning,” founder of Q Advisory John Keith King said.

Hillel argued that the Trump administration’s moves to defund the school “do not help Jewish students or improve the campus climate.” 

Two other federal appeals courts have recently overturned decisions by lower-court judges that had led to the release of pro-Palestinian campus activists Mahmoud Khalil and Mohsen Mahdawi.

Environmentalists, such as Earthjustice attorney Kristen Boyles, responded negatively to the changes, challenging the new legislation's legality.

An independent expert on the region, Corinne Dufka, told The Washington Post that any US action in Mali has the potential to backfire and lead to the targeting of American citizens.
