The court’s sanction is the latest in a growing number of cases in which state and federal judges have disciplined lawyers for submitting court documents generated by AI tools without vetting them.

Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison briefly became the world’s richest man as his AI bet sent his fortune soaring, while his influence expanded across technology, media and philanthropy.

Born and raised in San Francisco to Jewish mother Elena Engel and Italian father Riccardo Amodei, the siblings took different routes to the same project.

"Neither company is acting responsibly," he wrote in a series of posts on X/Twitter. "They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives."

Without naming them, Turk warned that just a handful of men held “almost unlimited power over AI”. Top AI companies include Meta, Anthropic, OpenAI and Google.

The episode, which began in May and was initially not reported by OpenAI, underscores growing tension within the AI industry.

OpenAI on Thursday, alongside the cybersecurity initiative, also unveiled Astra, a new AI model it described as its most capable yet but said can at times attempt to evade human monitoring.

Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said the acquisition aimed to provide more "open weights to the AI economy" and promised not to impose requirements to use Nvidia technology on the platform.

The software company chief said addressing the threat would require action in three main areas, starting with ensuring organizations regularly update their software.

According to the IBI, it "operates in Israel, publishes original research and analytical materials, and maintains an open-access library of significant works by contemporary scholars of sovereignty."
