Labour lawmaker Andy Burnham said on Monday he would put himself forward to enter the contest to replace Starmer, hours after the British prime minister announced he was resigning.

Starmer defended his decisions both to withhold initial access to bases, and then to participate in "defensive" operations against Iran, once Tehran had responded by by attacking its neighbours.

In Tel Aviv, Tommy Robinson predicted a Reform UK victory but said Nigel Farage must be “pushed,” as a heckler was attacked and removed from the venue.

Outside the court, Farage said he was pleased with Khan's sentence but concerned he would be released relatively soon, though Khan is liable to automatic deportation.
