US President Trump’s meeting with Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani spotlights concerns over the safety of New York’s Jewish community amid rising antisemitism and tense rhetoric.

The protesters chanted “Resistance is glorious,” “Intifada revolution,” and “Resistance, you make us proud; take another settler out,” footage posted to social media revealed.

Mamdani told reporters earlier this week that his team had reached out to the White House to arrange a meeting. According to Trump, "We have agreed that this meeting will take place [...] on Friday."

“I came here to this event not knowing that I would be sitting next to a Zionist, and this is something I’m not going to accept. My people are being killed right now in Gaza,” said the imam-led.

We must turn aside from the temptation to flatten complexity, hide behind false certainties, and hurl our “truths” at one another like Molotov cocktails.

Mayor-elect Mamdani announced that Commissioner Jessica Tisch would be staying on Wednesday. Earlier this year, Mamdani apologized to the city's police for previous criticism.

Adams came not only to reaffirm the deep ties between New York and the Jewish state, but also to warn – sometimes bluntly – about what he believes lies ahead for the city’s Jews.

"We will take to the streets tomorrow to make it clear that the people of conscience reject any US-Israeli occupation plan of Gaza," the PYM stated.

Netanyahu's office "thanked Mayor Adams for his great support of Israel and for being a true friend of the Jewish people" in a statement about the meeting.

Trump insinuated plans to meet NYC Mayor Mamdani at the White House, despite previous critical comments and election-related remarks.
