Graham died Saturday, aged 71, following what his office described as a “brief and sudden illness.” His office did not immediately disclose an official cause of death.  

Without question, he was one of the greatest friends the Jewish people have ever had in the United States Senate. He also understood that the Islamic Republic is the enemy, not the Persian people.

Graham sought to reassure Israelis that support for their country remained deeply embedded in Congress. “Quite frankly, Congress has Israel’s back," he said.

"As much as it frustrates me, this process takes time... And on the advice of my doctors, I won’t be able to return to the Senate floor to vote quite yet," said US Senator Mitch McConnell.

According to Axios, the late US Senator Lindsey Graham thought that Israel-Saudi normalization could be the "big prize" product of the war with Iran.

Sharren Haskel told The Jerusalem Post that Israel has lost a voice it cannot substitute. Her warning went considerably further than that.

Israel is safer because of Lindsey Graham's steadfast friendship, his moral clarity, and his willingness to stand firm when it mattered most.

We in Israel, alongside the people of our region, owe Sen. Lindsey Graham immense gratitude for a dedication to our alliance that was rooted in his mission to protect America.

With Graham dead, McConnell still in the hospital, and midterms approaching, it looks like the Republicans' supermajority in Congress could shift.
