The famed BBC broadcaster, whose family rescued Jewish sisters before the Holocaust, has never backed Israel boycotts and once praised Israel’s climate innovation.

This comes after multiple local authorities voted not to work with firms that they deem to be “complicit in Israeli war crimes...or somehow benefit from activity in the West Bank."

Al-Haq, a Ramallah-based Palestinian human rights organization, and nine other advocacy groups urged the Dutch government to cease exporting goods and weapons to Israel.

The team confirmed that the festival faced a well-funded and orchestrated BDS campaign "built on lies and hatred" over the last few months.

In recent years, the exhibition has also been attended by Israeli company Elbit Systems, which has presented naval attack and defense systems.

BDS criticized the participation of Israel–Premier Tech in the Tour de France, calling it an attempt to “sportswash grave crimes against Palestinians."

"The staff said, 'If you are attracting issues that need extra security, it puts everyone in the venue in danger,'" Creeger recounted.

BDS said that by boycotting Microsoft and Xbox, it was pressuring Microsoft to "end its complicity in Israel's genocide, occupation, and apartheid."
