Mizan identified the man as Soltanali Shirzadi Fakhr, saying he had been a long-time member of the MEK and was found guilty of cooperating with Israeli intelligence.

"The silence of European Union leaders and member states in the face of this wave of political executions in Iran is unjustifiable," Maryam Rajavi said in a speech at the European Parliament.

"I would greatly appreciate the release of these women," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. "I am sure that they will respect the fact that you did so. Please do them no harm!"

Mizan said the two, identified as Mohammad Masoum Shahi and Hamed Validi, were accused of belonging to a spy network linked to Mossad and had received training abroad.

Iran executed two men convicted of attempting to storm a military facility during January's anti-government protests. The men were among four facing execution in a crackdown on unrest.

Amirhossein Hatami was among 11 men said to have been at imminent risk of execution, and who had been "subjected to torture and other ill-treatment in detention."

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez also responded to the bill on Tuesday, calling its passing "one more step toward apartheid."

Two of those executed on Monday were killed without advance notice, denying them the chance to meet with their lawyers or say goodbye to their families, according to Amnesty International.
