At the Saturday protest, an anti-Israel activist and historian at a local university claimed that antisemitism was being used to conceal crimes in Gaza.

"We remain deeply concerned by extremist settler violence in the West Bank and condemn such acts," said the Canadian Foreign Minister.

The event had the largest number of participants in its 55 year history. The Walk is Canada’s largest Jewish community event and the world’s largest Israel solidarity walk outside of Israel. 

"The susceptibility to Islamic fundamentalism affecting so many of our students tell us we have a big problem," said Kolot Mayim Reform Temple's Rabbi Lynn Greenhough.

"Shame on La Presse for posting this vile caricature," said the Israeli embassy to Canada. "The antisemitism in Canada is off the chart."

In 2021, Canada's military product exports to Israel were worth around $21 million Canadian. Israel's defense budget is in the billions.

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs wrote on social media that instead of Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly's confirmation that Canada would continue not to trade arms with Israel.
