The IDF said it is investigating an incident on Saturday in which the military struck a vehicle in the Tebnit area of southern Lebanon, which may have been carrying Lebanese military personnel.
According to the military, the vehicle had been moving toward IDF soldiers in a suspicious manner, following earlier intelligence indications that Hezbollah was planning attacks from the area.
The vehicle was struck after soldiers had determined it posed a threat to their safety, the IDF said.
The military noted that an initial inquiry indicated that two Lebanese Army officers and a Lebanese soldier were inside the vehicle at the time of the strike.
IDF: We target Hezbollah, not Lebanese Army
The IDF added that all movement in the area requires coordination due to it being an active combat zone, emphasizing that Israel operates against Hezbollah and not the Lebanese military.
The military's announcement followed earlier reports from the Lebanese Army that two Lebanese officers and one soldier were killed on Saturday in an IDF strike on a military vehicle on the Khardali-Nabatieh road in southern Lebanon.
