The suspected terror infiltration near the Israel-Jordan border has been deemed a false alarm, the IDF said in a Tuesday evening statement.

The infiltrators were identified as Jordanian Border Police officers chasing criminals into Israeli territory, Israeli media reported.

Earlier in the evening, ten suspects had been identified following their infiltration into southern Israel, near the communities of Paran and Yahel in the Arava. Elite IDF units, as well as IAF jets and drones, were deployed to the area.

Following a red alert in Paran, the IDF confirmed the suspected infiltration in a statement and said that security personnel dispatched to the area were conducting extensive searches for the infiltrators.

Traffic to and from Eilat had initially been halted, according to Israel Police, but once the incident was determined to be a false alarm, it was reopened.

Israelis cross Jordanian border, taken into police custody

Earlier this month, the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army stated that it apprehended three individuals attempting to "infiltrate" the border in the Southern Military Region.

The IDF stated that there were two Israeli civilians who accidentally crossed the border into Jordanian territory.

The individuals were returned to IDF custody, the military confirmed at the time.
