The IDF intercepted a missile from Yemen after sirens sounded in Jerusalem and the West Bank on Wednesday morning.

Earlier this week, an IDF investigation found that last Friday's launch from Yemen included cluster munitions, marking the first time that the Houthis have used this type of missile against Israel.

An analysis in The Jerusalem Post noted that Iran usually uses the Houthis to test out new types of military technology, which could mean that the cluster munition comes from Tehran or was developed by the Houthis.

A Houthi statement said that it sent a “qualitative military operation targeting Lod Airport in the occupied Jaffa area with a hypersonic ballistic missile of the Palestine-2 type.”

The terror organization claimed that the missile “successfully hit its target after penetrating the Israeli defense systems.”

IDF strikes in Sanaa

On Sunday, the IDF struck Sanaa in Yemen in retaliation for the attack.

The strikes included more than 10 aircraft flying over 2,000 kilometers for five-and-a-half hours total and dropping around 35 munitions, the Post reported.

Additionally, the strikes targeted an area near the presidential complex, electric power stations, and sites where the Houthis may keep ballistic missiles.
