Egged Group on Sunday unveiled “egg,” a new public-transport navigation and payments app that the company says is the first in Israel to offer a completely ad-free experience for all riders across operators and modes. The app provides real-time information, step-by-step live navigation, smart route options, fares, in-app validation and ticketing, and customer service, all in one place.

Available for Android and iOS, egg supports buses from all operators, Israel Railways, light rail lines, and micro-mobility services such as shared scooters and bikes. Early store listings describe the service as “always ad-free,” with real-time arrivals, train schedules, in-app payments, and ticket booking, including long-distance Egged trips to Eilat.

'Egged is changing the rules of the game'

“After years of endless ads, Egged is changing the rules of the game,” said Egged Group CEO Gilad Riklin. “We’re proud to be the first public-transport group in Israel to launch an app that lets all riders plan trips, load Rav-Kav, validate rides, book tickets, and contact customer service — all without ads. ‘egg’ marks the end of the advertising era in public-transport apps and sets a new standard: simple, accurate, and distraction-free.”

Tech outlets covering the launch noted that egg aims to compete in a crowded navigation market by eliminating commercial clutter while supporting the full array of operators, not only Egged. Reports also highlighted integration with Hop-On’s data and payment infrastructure behind the scenes.

Beyond core routing, Egged says the app adds exclusive services for its intercity passengers: advance seat reservations and ticketing for popular lines such as Eilat routes, a new lost-and-found reporting tool, and a unified customer-service channel for travel queries, complaints and suggestions. These functions sit alongside standard real-time tracking and fare display intended to streamline trip planning and reduce friction for daily commuters and occasional travelers alike.

The launch follows a year in which Egged has expanded its digital touchpoints — including a revamped website and messaging-based support — as part of a broader strategy to deepen engagement with riders. Company pages list Riklin as CEO and emphasize efforts to modernize service and information access.
