The novel coronavirus, COVID-19, is spreading around the world, including in Israel. Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties, but the virus can be fatal. To help maintain the virus, Israel has implemented a number of restrictions on the public.

COVID-19 in Israel: 506 new cases, 122 in serious condition

A total of 506 Israelis tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, the Health Ministry reported on Monday morning. Currently, 122 Israelis are in serious condition, 70 of whom are on ventilators. The death toll currently stands at 8,189. A total of 4,074,049 Israelis have received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 5,774,318 have gotten two and 6,316,833 have gotten one.
COVID-19 in Israel: 524 new cases, 120 in serious condition

A total of 524 new COVID-19 patients were diagnosed in Israel on Thursday out of 77,296 tests taken. Currently, 120 patients are in serious condition, with 72 on ventilators.  A total of 4,065,479 Israelis have received the third shot of the vaccine, while 5,771,560 have gotten two shots and 6,296,669 received one. The death toll stands at 8,182.

A total of 810 Israelis tested positive for COVID-19 Monday, out of 80,684 tests taken. There are currently 279 patients in serious condition, 150 of whom are on respirators. The death toll from the coronavirus pandemic currently stands at 8,049. A total of 3,906,905 Israelis have received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 5,715,624 receiving the second dose and 6,219,981 having gotten the first dose.

A total of 1,130 Israelis tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday out of 88,051 tests given. The number of serious cases currently stands at 352, with 156 on respirators and a death toll standing at 8,023. A total of 3,866,248 Israelis received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 5,705,084 having gotten the second dose and 6,210,282 having gotten the first dose.

A total of 1,483 new COVID-19 cases in Israel were found Monday out of 104,696 different tests taken as the country's death toll now stands at 8,010. As of now, 360 patients are in serious condition, 161 of whom are on respirators. A total of 3,856,772 Israelis have received the third dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 5,703,661 have received two doses and 6,207,918 received one.

A total of 1,199 Israelis tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday out of 83,122 tests taken. A total of 372 patients are currently in serious condition, with 162 on respirators as the death toll stands at 7,999. A total of 3,845,992 Israelis received the third dose of the vaccine, with 5,700,999 having received the second dose and 6,204,916 having received the first.
COVID in Israel: 2,621 new cases, 3.95% of tests positive

There were 2,621 new coronavirus cases in Israel on Saturday, the Health Ministry announced Sunday evening. The Health Ministry also announced they conducted 66,900 tests - around 3.95% of tests returned a positive result. Some 689 of current patients are in serious condition, with 225 intubated. The death toll is 7,675.

A total of 9,539 new COVID-19 cases were diagnosed Tuesday following 165,585 tests, with a total of 650 patients in serious condition and 172 on respirators. Currently, 2,966,594 Israelis have received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, with 5,563,259 having had the second dose and 6,054,298 having had just the first dose. The death toll stands at 7,444.

A total of 10,313 Israelis tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, out of 155,181 tests administered.  The number of serious patients stands at 689, with 145 on ventilators. The number of Israelis who received their third COVID-19 vaccine dose is 2,301,792, with 5,490,297 having had two doses and 5,989,999 having received just one. The death toll stands at 7,082.
COVID-19: Israel's HMOs to get NIS 240m. budget increase to fight virus

Israel's health funds will receive a NIS 60 million per month budget increase for four months in order to help fight the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Health and Finance ministries announced Wednesday, Walla reported. The health funds will receive a total of NIS 240m. to aid in the fight against COVID-19. This is a developing story.
COVID-19: Portugal bars Israelis from entry, adopting EU recommendation

Portugal has officially banned Israelis, even those who have been vaccinated from entering its borders following the recent rise in COVID-19 cases, Israeli media reported. This makes Portugal the first country to adopt the European Union's recommendation regarding Israel made on Tuesday, which saw the Jewish state removed from green countries. As of now, only Israelis with urgent needs and special permission can enter the country, such as students, families and for medical and humanitarian purposes. This is a developing story.
COVID-19: IDF begins giving soldiers third vaccine dose

The IDF began giving soldiers the third dose, or booster shot, of the COVID-19 vaccine, even those aged 18-30, as part of the continuation of its vaccination rollout to ensure operational readiness and competence. The IDF established 72 immunization complexes and 10 additional facilities. Combat soldiers and soldiers in training will be given their vaccination dates from their commanders. Officers can make appointments for their vaccinations.

Some 5,946 new cases of the novel coronavirus were reported in Israel on Wednesday, with 421 patients in serious condition, according to a Thursday morning update by the Health Ministry.   Some 4.62% of tests returned positive.   Of those infected, 65 were on ventilators. The death toll stood at 6,593.   Some 716,518 Israelis had received the third dose of the coronavirus vaccine as of Thursday morning.

Some 5,755 new cases of the novel coronavirus were reported in Israel on Tuesday, with 4.59% of tests returning positive, according to a Wednesday morning update by the Health Ministry.   The Health Ministry clarified that a large number of tests were conducted on Tuesday, so final numbers would only be available on Wednesday evening.   Of those infected, 400 were in serious condition and 62 were on ventilators. The death toll stood at 6,580.
Coronavirus in Israel: COVID-19 outbreaks detected at 118 nursing homes

Israel's nursing homes saw sharp rises in coronavirus infections over the past weekend with new outbreaks detected at 19 facilities, taking the total number of nursing home COVID-19 outbreaks up to 118, N12 reported on Sunday.   On Friday and Saturday, 114 coronavirus patients were reportedly diagnosed in nursing homes across Israel, 62 residents and 52 staff members.    The rate of positive tests among nursing home residents has been on the rise in recent weeks, and last week reached a peak with 0.7% positive residents, compared to only 0.1% in the weeks prior.
