After a not simple year with too many wars and too little support from the government, the self-employed are trying to slowly return to some kind of routine, cope with the large losses, recruit employees again and mainly – hope that someday it will be good here.
As part of the efforts to support this population, food personality Liran Ohali teamed up with Dizengoff Center, and together with the food community Bite Club that he heads, initiated the “Raising Up the Self-Employed” fair, which will take place between May 7-8 at Dizengoff Center, Tel Aviv.
“The fair was born out of a desire to give a boost to businesses that were harmed during the war: Producers from the confrontation lines and reservists who returned from the front to the kitchen”, says Ohali. “But since the entire culinary world has been affected in one way or another in recent years and during the war, the goal is to help, expose and assist anyone possible, and to connect between the public and the people behind the pots and the doughs, while making products accessible that are not available in routine in central Tel Aviv”.
The result of this blessed initiative is a special food fair of its kind, which will bring to the culinary floor in the Center chefs, influencers and small producers from across the country.
The list is especially tempting and inviting, and among the participants you will find the carbohydrate masters Seniora Bakery from Florentin, with magnificent laminated pastries and dreamy cookies, David Bakery from Ramat Gan will arrive with a variety of pastries, challahs and breads, and alongside them the dumplings of Pilmenia from Haifa and the Krayot, the handmade burekas of Clara from the Carmel and the veteran Jewish deli Leybale that will arrive from Givat Shmuel with salads, spreads and hot food for the weekend.
Also on the list: The Tel Aviv ice cream lab Ari, the chocolates of Ya’ar Hacacao, the boutique cookies of cookiedough, and for the dessert of all desserts – Stroopi, the addictive stroopwafel operated by reservists.
In the take-home goodies section you will find the olive oils, spreads and jams of Meshek Grabiner, the boutique winery Wine d’Or and even a mead stand – a Land of Israel honey wine. Come stock up on lots of delicious things for the weekend, and along the way support a population that so needs your support.
