Samsung is finally revealing the card it has kept close to its chest in recent months, in the form of a particularly ambitious smartphone: The Galaxy Z TriFold, a device that introduces what Samsung calls a triple fold – one large screen divided into three parts that folds inward like a precise technological map. After hints, leaks, and a July interview in which a senior company official confirmed that they were working on a three-panel device aimed for release by the end of the year – it is now official. Samsung is targeting a launch in Korea on December 12, later expanding to China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. In the United States, it will arrive only in the first quarter of 2026, with no exact date yet.

The design is the story here: One screen that folds inward into three parts, with the main goal being to protect the huge display. And if the user folds it incorrectly – the TriFold immediately vibrates and displays a warning on the screen. When fully opened, it provides a 10-inch display, and when closed, there is a 6.5-inch cover screen. The thickness ranges from 3.9 mm at the thinnest point when open to 12.9 mm when folded.

For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 does offer a similar 6.5-inch external screen, but its internal screen only opens to 8 inches. It is thinner when folded (8.9 mm) and significantly lighter at just 215 grams, compared to the TriFold’s 309 grams. The two hinges of the TriFold allow it to transform from a 10-inch tablet to a pocket device, even if it is heavier and chunkier. Samsung adds that the panels close with minimal gap without contact, the hinges are designed for high durability, and a new reinforcement layer better protects the screen.

Inside, it runs a customized Snapdragon 8 chip, a 5,600mAh battery in a three-cell configuration, and 45W fast charging. The rear camera array is almost identical to the Fold 7: A 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 200MP wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens. On the main screen and cover screen – 10MP selfie cameras.

And the price? Still unknown. But with the Fold 7 starting at $2,000, it’s hard to believe that a device with a triple fold, two hinges, and a larger screen will be cheaper. The TriFold may fold in three parts – but its price tag will likely unfold fully as well.
