US President Donald Trump said he could “absolutely work with Democrats” on a range of issues despite Republican losses in Tuesday's elections, according to a phone interview with CNBC on Wednesday.

“I can work with them on many things, many more things than people understand. There are many ideas they have are absolute,” Trump said, according to CNBC.

During the interview, Trump brought up Bernie Sanders and his presidential campaign, pointing to similarities between their positions on trade.

Trump said he and Sanders held virtually identical views on trade and indicated that he would not support removing tariffs, CNBC reported. However, he suggested that he could cooperate with Democrats on financial issues that would be mutually beneficial.

CNBC noted that Trump did not specify which proposals he had in mind.

Trump 'not concerned' over possibility of impeachment efforts by Democrats

Separately, Trump told CBS News that he was “not even a little bit” concerned about the possibility of Democrats seeking to impeach him after taking control of both the House and Senate next year.

“I think it would destroy the Democrat Party if they did that. Impeachment for no reason. What? For having a successful country?” Trump said while answering reporters' questions at the White House.
