Amichai Chikli is an Israeli lawmaker as part of the Likud Party and current Diaspora affairs and combatting antisemitism minister and, until early January 2024, as social equality minister.
Chikli made waves in Israeli politics in 2021 while part of the Yamina Party after having a public split with the party leader and then-prime minister Naftali Bennett.
The conference drew controversy and withdrawals from slated participants due to the presence of far Right politicians, such as France's Jordan Bardella.
Adams reminded that antisemitism was a problem across the political spectrum, and argued that the labels of right and left were unhelpful when engaging with the Jewish community.
"Jews are not asking for special treatment under the law -- we are asking for equal treatment under the law," said Kestenbaum.
The Israeli government has exposed a growing rift between its political calculations in terms of fighting antisemitism, and the actual concerns of Diaspora Jews.
Bardella describes his visit to Israel and Jerusalem as "my and our total engagement in the fight against antisemitism."
The Diaspora Affairs Ministry will roll up their sleeves and fight—not with polite condemnation, but with moral clarity and unapologetic force.
“Also what they thought would go to the general public, we found some way to allocate to the haredi public, not everything can be talked about," Goldknopf said.
“I expect the Israeli government and the Knesset to take just as clear a stand,” Kariv said.
Israel’s antisemitism envoy left out of key planning for controversial conference.
Marine Le Pen's transformation of the National Rally into a pro-Jewish party marks a significant shift, with French Jews now seeing it as an ally.
