Israelis held protests, marches, or demonstrations across the country on Wednesday, in addition to memorial ceremonies, marking the third anniversary of the 2023 October 7 massacre.

Many of the protesters called for more accountability from government officials and a full state commission of inquiry into the national tragedy.

Protests took place outside the Knesset in Jerusalem and outside several government officials' houses, including Transportation Minister Miri Regev and Education Minister Yoav Kisch.

Several other demonstrations involved provocative public art installations.

At Dizengoff Square, protesters dyed the fountain water red, simulating blood. On Trumpeldor Beach in Tel Aviv, hundreds of painted bodies were laid out on the sands, representing the victims of October 7.

Another major protest was a convoy traveling from Caesarea to Tel Aviv, following the route Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took on October 7, 2023.

October Council invites Israelis to demand investigation into Oct. 7

The October Council called for Israelis to join memorial ceremonies and protests demanding a state commission of inquiry into the events leading up to the massacre.

"Three years have passed, yet the truth has still not been fully investigated," the October Council said in a statement released on Wednesday.

"We - the bereaved families, survivors of captivity, families of the hostages, and survivors of the massacre - ask the Israeli public today to stand with us: to remember, to demand answers, and to ensure that lessons are learned.

"For us, the upcoming election campaign will also center on this question: Will the State of Israel investigate the failure, learn, and make corrections, or will it leave the biggest question marks in its history unanswered?"
