Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar met with the UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis in Jerusalem on Sunday to discuss regional security and the future of Lebanon, the minister confirmed on social media.

“I reiterated the importance of Hezbollah’s disarmament for both Israel’s security and Lebanon’s future,” Sa'ar wrote on X/Twitter.

“Efforts have been made in this regard by the Lebanese government and the Lebanese Armed Forces, but they are far from sufficient, among other things, in light of Hezbollah’s efforts to rearm and rebuild, with Iranian support.”

The IDF has continued to strike Hezbollah targets within Lebanon as the terrorist group attempts to rebuild.

Lebanon's gov't works to disarm Hezbollah

Lebanon’s government has also worked towards disarming Hezbollah, with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam calling on the group to surrender all weapons to the state’s authority.

“The weapons should be at the disposal of all Lebanese, under a decision by the Lebanese government,” he said.

“Contrary to rumors, no one intends to throw them into the sea or hand them over to Israel.”
