Hezbollah member of parliament Ali Fayyad slammed what he called American “subjugation” of Lebanon and demanded Lebanon not “normalize” with the “enemy,” according to Al-Akhbar media.

The report came out in the context of Lebanon watching closely what happens in Gaza. Fayyad and other Hezbollah members have been more outspoken because they don’t want the spotlight to shift onto them after the war in Gaza ends.

Al-Akhbar, which is considered pro-Hezbollah, reported that the MP said, “We will not submit to American subjugation or normalization with the enemy…

“Member of the Loyalty to the Resistance bloc, MP Ali Fayyad, stressed that ‘the authorities must increase their level of concern for our people, and we must all push the domestic arena toward restructuring relations among the Lebanese.’”

Fayyad's speech

Fayyad gave a speech during Hezbollah’s commemoration of the first anniversary of what the terror group called the “martyrdom” of the town of Tulin.

He said “Occupation cannot, by any national, political, or moral logic, be a pretext for surrender or for compromising Lebanon’s sovereign interests and rights in the balance of power.

“We must not throw away all our cards of strength, surrender, or relinquish our natural rights, based on the fact that the other side possesses a larger arsenal. This is illogical by any measure.”

Fayyad added that “the state must reassess the situation and deal more seriously with these threats, and mobilize its diplomatic and political tools.”

Israel carries out airstrikes frequently on Hezbollah targets in Lebanon. Hezbollah claims that Israel is occupying parts of Lebanon.

Fayyad wants Lebanon to confront Israel and Israel to commit to a ceasefire, even though there is one already. He then demanded Israel cease “hostilities” and release “Lebanese prisoners.”

Hezbollah also wants to return to villages near the border under the guise of civilian return but faces a crossroads because Lebanon wants to disarm the terrorist group.

The Lebanese MP also wants money set aside for reconstruction in southern Lebanon.

He added: “It is also regrettable that the law passed by the House of Representatives, the law exempting those affected by Israeli hostilities, has not yet been implemented, even though most of its provisions do not require implementing decrees but only follow-up.

“To date, this law has not been implemented, and we do not know whether there are premeditated intentions to obstruct or slow its implementation, or whether it is merely administrative stumbling on the part of the relevant ministries and institutions.”
