Approximately 30 teenage soccer players from the Israeli-Druze town of Majdal Shams will travel to Hungary, according to a Saturday report.
The teenagers are all survivors of the Hezbollah terror rocket attack in August 2024, which killed 12 of their compatriots.
The visit to Hungary was arranged at the initiative of Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar and the Israeli Embassy in Budapest in order to share the story of the teenagers, and highlight the unique character of Israel's Druze community.
During their visit, the teenagers will be hosted at Ferencváros's training facilities. The Budapest-based club has won the Hungarian soccer league consecutively for the past seven years.
Hungarian club manager used to head Maccabi Tel Aviv
They are currently managed by retired Irish soccer player Robbie Keane, whose previous managerial job was as manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv during the 2023-2024 season.
The teenagers will also train with retired Hungary national team players, attend Israel's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Italy, and meet with local youth in Budapest.
