Former Gaza hostage Eli Sharabi met with former US president Joe Biden at a football game in Philadelphia on Sunday and thanked him for his efforts to bring all the hostages back.

"It was a deep honour to meet President Biden in Philadelphia," Sharabi wrote on Twitter.

"We thanked him sincerely for his efforts toward the release of the hostages and for his steadfast support of the State of Israel. We are grateful for this meaningful opportunity," he added.

Sharabi is in the US as part of a tour to promote his book, "Hostage," which was recently named one of Time Magazine’s top 100 must-read books of 2025.

Rising support for ex-hostage Eli Sharabi as new political force

A November N12 poll showed that Sharabi is among those who gained more support to lead a new political force in Israel.

The studio found that 76% of center-left voters want “new blood” to represent them in the Knesset, and 61% believe new figures could challenge, or even overthrow, the coalition.

“New blood” does not refer to classic politicians but to activists who have spent the last two years fighting for the hostages and an inquiry into October 7.

The suggested new figures were Eli Sharabi, Einav Zangauker, Eyal Eshel, Eyal Waldman, and Shay Yizhar.
