At Monday’s Senior IDF Reserve Commanders Conference, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that reservists are an integral part of achieving Israel’s military goals on all fronts.
Alongside Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir at the Forum of Senior IDF Reserve Commanders, the prime minister addressed questions from reserve officers.
Netanyahu explains how war changed Israel
In a statement, Netanyahu discussed shifts in the country and region as a whole. "We have not only changed the Middle East, we have changed ourselves. There is no more containment. There is initiative and constant activity,” the prime minister stated. “And we are doing this because we know who you are, and we know what an amazing army we have.”
He continued, “Not just the regular army, which everyone said was the 'TikTok generation,' and it's already clear that's not true, but our reserve army, which once again showed up, contrary to everything the enemy thought. They were wrong. They were wrong about us; they were wrong about you.”
He then discussed the importance of the IDF’s reserve system, calling it fundamental and a core component, and emphasized the need for a sizable, intelligent, and strong military.
“We will increase regular service, and we will greatly strengthen the reserve service, and we will also strengthen the families, because today the approach is very simple—there is no such thing as a reserve soldier or a reserve commander who is a separate unit and the family is on the side,” he said, adding, “It is one unit."
