A teenager was wounded in Holon after an explosive device went off in Holon, Israel Police announced on Monday.
Israeli media reported that the teenager was likely not the intended target of the attack.
The 15-year-old was moderately to severely wounded and evacuated, the police said. Magen David Adom said that the victim had been found conscious and given medical treatment at the scene before being taken to the hospital.
The incident was likely criminal in nature, the police said, with N12 reporting that a source close to the investigation had said that the explosion had occured near the home of a known criminal.
The police have launched an investigation into the explosion.
Liberman says government is collapsing after Holon explosion
MK Avigdor Liberman, Chairman of the Yisrael Beytenu party, said in response to the explosion that "the governance in the State of Israel is collapsing."
He also cited "nonstop shooting in Rahat" and a rocket being launched at a house in Jaljulya last week as evidence for this.
"Families in Israel are no longer safe even in their own homes," he said. "The criminals are not afraid because they know that under the October 7 massacre government, there is no law and no justice."
