A 25-year-old man and a 29-year-old man were seriously wounded in a shooting incident on Rimonim Street in Herzliya on Friday night, Israeli media reported.

MDA paramedics who arrived at the scene to treat the victims said that they "suffered serious penetrating injuries to their bodies." They rushed the two to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba for further treatment, Ynet reported.

Police opened an investigation into the incident and began searching for suspects, noting that the background of the incident is likely criminal.

Police discovered during the investigation that the two victims of the shooting attack are also known criminals to them.

Violent incident in Bat Yam hours earlier

Hours before the Herzliya incident, a 30-year-old man was seriously wounded in a stabbing attack on Ehud Manor Street in Bat Yam.

Israeli media reported that local police believed that the incident also had a criminal background.
