Several dozen people protested against the war against Iran outside the United States embassy in Tel Aviv on Monday.
The protesters demanded an end to the war, chanting “War will not bring freedom to anyone in the region," and "Don't believe lying officials, freedom doesn't come from missiles."
The Peace Partnership coalition - one of the groups present at the protest- said in an Instagram post that the war "will only expand the circle of blood in the region!"
Several similar events took place in parallel in cities worldwide, including in Jerusalem and Philadelphia.
“Every day, more innocent victims are added to this endless war that Trump and Netanyahu are imposing on the region, and there is no end in sight," said Omri Evron, Co-Coordinator of the Peace Partnership coalition. "We came tonight to protest outside the US Embassy in Tel Aviv and to call for solidarity among all those who are paying the price for the fantasy of imposing a ‘new Middle East’ by force - while democracy and civil society are being dismantled and all of us are being turned into cannon fodder.”
According to the organizers, right-wing activists were also present at the protest site.
Trump announces ceasefire with Iran
US President Donald Trump announced a “double-sided ceasefire” between the US and Iran in a post on Truth Social early on Wednesday, stating that Operation Epic Fury will be suspended for two weeks so an agreement regarding the ceasefire can be finalized.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed support for the ceasefire deal, provided Iran immediately reopens the Strait of Hormuz and stops all attacks on Israel and countries in the region, in a statement released after the announcement.
He added that Israel supports the US effort "to ensure that Iran no longer poses a nuclear, missile, and terror threat to America, Israel, Iran's Arab neighbors, and the world."
