Opposition leader Yair Lapid (Yesh Atid) vowed that Israel is united against the Iranian threat following a security assessment on Monday with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Netanyahu’s military secretary was also said to have participated in the joint meeting.

“The entire State of Israel is united in the face of Iran,” Lapid said after the meeting.

“There are no disagreements between us about the importance of confronting this threat. It is important that Tehran knows that the State of Israel stands united against the terror of the regime,” he continued.

There have been reports in recent weeks speculating a possible US-Iran conflict that might involve Israel.

Lapid and Netanyahu’s sit-down came after the prime minister canceled the original plans last week to conduct the security assessment.

The meeting also follows a day of social media sparring between Netanyahu and Lapid in which the two hurled accusations at one another over the “Qatargate” affair, which involves alleged Qatari influence on figures close to Netanyahu.

Social media jabs

“In your own office, the people closest to you secretly received millions of dollars from Qatar in a grave case of treason,” the opposition leader slammed the prime minister on X/Twitter.

“You personally transferred tens of millions of dollars to Hamas, in complete contradiction to the position of the security establishment, without ever explaining it to this day,” he added.

Later on Monday, Lapid also sharply criticized Netanyahu and the government for not inviting Supreme Court President Isaac Amit to a ceremonial Knesset plenum session amid the ongoing rift between the government and the judiciary.

Separately, US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi are expected to meet in Istanbul on Friday to discuss a possible nuclear deal, according to a Monday Axios report.
