Former prime minister and future renewed candidate Naftali Bennett on Tuesday said that his first three acts if he regains office will be to cancel the government's haredi IDF exemption bill, cancel its "politicized" probe into October 7, and limit the term of the country's leader to eight years.

Speaking at the Cyber Week conference at Tel Aviv University, Bennett was referring to the current attempt by the government to pass a law which critics say will only moderately increase haredi service in the IDF, while effectively making permanent the exemption for most ultra-orthodox from the military.

Next, he was referring to the government's initiative to circumvent a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 disaster with a probe run by government-selected officials.

Critics have said that such a committee will seek to absolve the government of fault for the disaster, rather than seeking the truth.

The government has said that it does not feel it would receive a fair shake from a state inquiry, given its conflict with the judiciary, and that the judiciary selects those who run state inquiries.

Finally, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu passing 18 years in three separate terms of office, Bennett promised to set 8 years as the maximum time any one individual can serve, as in the US.
