Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that he will be sending experts to the Middle East to help United States military personnel and civilians in the region in a statement on X/Twitter on Sunday.

Zelensky stated that he had “received some messages regarding how to help civilians in the Middle East and how to help American soldiers deployed in certain countries,” and was sending the experts as well as “everything needed to protect them.”

The experts are set to arrive next week, according to Zelensky, and will have the capabilities to assist “right away.”

The details of the help to be given are still being discussed, Zelensky stated, adding that more details will be provided once experts are on the ground to assess the situation.

Ukrainian anti-drone support

On Thursday, Zelensky announced that he had received a request from the US for support in dealing with Iranian Shahed drones and stated that he was working on ensuring the presence of Ukrainian specialists to help with that.

Ukraine has developed highly effective methods of combating the Shahed drones due to the fact that Iran supplies Russia with the drones it has been using to strike Ukraine for much of the past four years.
