Around 100 firefighters worked to contain a fire that broke out at the largest kosher supermarket in Golders Green on Wednesday, according to the London Fire Brigade.
The fire broke out in a three-story building with apartments above the supermarket shortly after 6:45 a.m. BST, with the brigade receiving 56 emergency calls. A storage area near the shop was also affected.
LFB said the building was producing “a significant amount of smoke” and urged people in the area to keep windows and doors closed.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known. No injuries have been reported.
"This is an ongoing incident with the focus on dealing with the fire and ensuring the safety of the public," a Metropolitan Police officer told the BBC.
"It is too early to have determined the cause."
Golders Green faces spate of antisemitic attacks
This comes after a spree of antisemitic incidents in the heavily Jewish-populated neighborhood.
Earlier this month, a 22-year-old Israeli man was attacked in Golders Green.
In a separate London, a man was charged with the arson of a former synagogue.
In late April, two London Jews were wounded in a knife attack in Golders Green, leading police to arrest one 45-year-old Somali.
In March, four United Hatzalah ambulances were set ablaze in the neighborhood. Over thirty people were arrested in connection with the crime.
Most of the attacks were claimed by Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia, a terror group linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.
