Ronlight, the official importer of Garmin products in Israel, announced the launch of two new models in the popular running watch series: Forerunner 70 and Forerunner 170. The new watches, which come with colorful AMOLED screens and built-in GPS, were designed with the goal of making advanced training technologies that were previously reserved for the brand's elite models accessible even to runners at the beginning of their journey. The new series emphasizes light weight, a user-friendly interface, and a combination of a touch screen and physical buttons, allowing for convenient operation during intense physical activity.
The most significant change in the new models is the transition to a 1.2-inch AMOLED display, which provides a sharp and clear viewing experience in all lighting conditions. Alongside the visual improvement, Garmin implemented smart training systems such as Garmin Coach, which generates dynamic training programs that change according to the user's progress pace and health metrics. Whether it is a novice runner who needs walk–run combinations or an experienced runner preparing for a race, the watch knows how to recommend the correct training intensity on any given day.
In the field of performance monitoring, the watches offer an impressive set of tools including the Training Readiness metric, which determines how ready the body is for effort, and the Training Status which examines whether training is effective or leading to overexertion. After the workout, the user receives data on the required recovery time and the impact of the activity on overall fitness. Additionally, the watches track the HRV (heart rate variability) metric and Body Battery energy levels, to provide a holistic picture of the body's condition throughout the entire day.
Another aspect of the series is the integration between sports and a digital lifestyle. The 170 model supports contactless payments and will also be offered in a Music version, which allows for song storage and listening directly from the watch without the need for a phone. Battery life offers a range of up to 13 days in smartwatch mode for the 70 model, and up to 10 days for the 170 model. With a starting price of NIS 1,049, Garmin attempts to establish its position as the natural choice for those looking for a combination of journalistic reliability of physiological data and daily convenience.
