Passover is over and maybe it is already possible to think about our upcoming summer vacation. If you are interested in checking off your list of preferred destinations, take into account that this year the summer vacation may be surprisingly expensive (for example, fuel prices that have risen due to the war with Iran and more). As is known, there are destinations that will be significantly more expensive in the summer, and on the other hand destinations where the winter raises the prices (skiing, Christmas markets and more).

And here come the good news: There are certain months in which certain destinations may be cheaper. The South African tourism company Go2Africa calculated which are the best and cheapest destinations for each month of the year, and these are the results.

January: Denmark, Italy, Greece
Denmark boasts a rich history and an abundance of wonderful cities and towns that are fun to explore, starting from Copenhagen, to Odense and Aarhus. It is also an excellent time for Italy, which attracts tourists with its culinary experiences and winter landscapes. In Greece, the weather in January certainly allows for a winter vacation, when on some of the islands the temperature is similar to that in Israel.

February: Croatia, Poland, Hungary
Croatia is a worthwhile destination in February, and it has a long coastline, countless small islands and historic cities. In Poland, a night in an average hotel will cost you 84 dollars in February, and the food and drink there are also cheap all year. Hungary boasts impressive architecture, and if you are interested in plenty of warmth at the peak of winter, then its capital Budapest offers excellent thermal baths.

March: Netherlands, Portugal
The Netherlands boasts its iconic canals, as well as colorful buildings – and not only in places like Amsterdam. Portugal is usually perceived as a summer destination, but offers amazing cuisine and beautiful cities that are pleasant to stroll in even in the colder months.

April: Georgia, Germany
Georgia has everything: From stunning beaches to dramatic mountain landscapes, and the temperatures in April usually hover around 15 degrees, which makes it ideal for outdoor trips – all this at a flight distance of less than three hours from Israel. Germany offers excellent spring vacations, with mild weather, fewer crowds and vibrant cities like Berlin, Munich and Hamburg. This is alongside historic towns, castles and famous beer cellars.

May: Czech Republic, Japan
The Czech Republic is packed with wonderfully preserved historic cities like Prague, and along the way you can sip the popular Czech beers. And further east – Japan is a perfect destination in May, with an average price of 153 dollars per night in a hotel.

June: Serbia, Grenada, Zambia
It turns out that the cheapest time of the year to travel in Serbia is in June, and this is also a good opportunity to get acquainted with the country’s vibrant culture. Grenada is also definitely worth a visit in June – and allows you to get a taste of the Caribbean. June is also an excellent month for pleasant safari trips in Zambia, in the heart of landscapes that have not yet been “spoiled”.

July: Finland, Barbados, Cambodia
For many travelers, Finland serves as an excellent “viewing point” for the northern lights, but it has much more to offer, such as breathtaking landscapes and impressive lakes. And if you feel like white sand, palm trees and good food – go for Barbados, which turns out to be more worthwhile in July. In Asia, it is recommended to visit Cambodia, where ancient temples in the heart of the jungle and a particularly vibrant food scene await you.

August: China, Australia, Papua New Guinea
It turns out that August is the month in which it is cheapest to visit China, where you can get a hotel at an average price of 83 dollars per night. Australia is also more worthwhile during this period, when the country is actually in its winter season. And another destination that not many Israelis visit but is worth paying attention to: Papua New Guinea, where there is an enormous abundance of natural landscapes, including beautiful coral reefs.

September: Argentina, Barbados
With impressive canyons and waterfalls that will amaze you, Argentina is definitely worth a visit – and it is less expensive in September. The island state of Barbados – which is also not really prominent on the Israeli tourism map – is an excellent option in September, where white beaches, picturesque palm trees and excellent food await you.

October: Brazil, Belgium
Brazil boasts lush forested mountains and a beautiful coastline, and October is one of the cheaper times of the year to explore all this goodness. And if waffles (Belgian of course) and good beer attract you, Belgium is an excellent destination, and also not very crowded with tourists in this month.

November: Norway, Canada, Estonia
Norway offers countless kilometers of natural beauty – and also an average accommodation price of 153 dollars per night in November. The long flight from Israel to Canada may be worthwhile in November, a month in which it is relatively cheap to travel in the huge country full of impressive natural landscapes. And closer to us – Estonia is relatively cheap in this month, and its capital Tallinn is worth a visit thanks to its impressive architecture and unique medieval atmosphere.

December: Madagascar
Madagascar will amaze you with its rich natural world and its breathtaking landscapes. In addition, in December, the average price per night in a hotel is only 67 dollars. But before you book a vacation, it is advisable to check whether there is a travel warning for Israelis in Madagascar. For example, following the coup that occurred in Madagascar last October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended that Israelis not travel to the destination. On the other hand, until next December you still have plenty of time – and things may change.
