Two weekends full of design and encounters with local designers mark Israeli Design Day 2025, which will take place this year for the fourth time before Hanukkah. The event will be held from Thursday to Saturday, on December 4-6 and 11-12, and will span three main locations in Tel Aviv: The Greek Market in Jaffa, Gan Hahashmal, and Kiryat Hamelacha.
Israeli Design Day, organized by LOCAL DOT COM to foster local design entrepreneurship and raise awareness of Israeli creativity, is held with the support of the Tel Aviv Municipality. The events will expose the public to local designers and a variety of innovative projects, including creators from outside the city.
Roots – This Year’s Central Theme
The central theme of Israeli Design Day 2025 is ROOTS. The event aims to emphasize the longing for rootedness, connection to origins, belonging, and creating depth and internal connection through creation and design.
At the Jaffa gallery YAARA OPEN STUDIO, a themed exhibition, ROOTS, will take place, featuring around 30 different creators presenting objects inspired by the theme. The exhibition combines a variety of materials, textures, and colors, offering visitors an opportunity to experience diverse interpretations of the same theme.
Tours and Open Studio Spaces
During the two weekends, designers’ studio spaces will be open to visitors, who can meet the creators and see their collections. Some studios will also host designers from outside the city. As part of the event, discounts will be offered at both the studio spaces and the designers’ online stores.
In addition, guided tours will take place in Jaffa, Gan Hahashmal, and Kiryat Hamelacha, where visitors will visit 4-5 different studio spaces, get a glimpse into the creative process – from inspiration to development – and meet the designers in person. Each tour lasts about two hours, with a cost of NIS 200 per participant. Reserve duty soldiers can participate free of charge, upon presenting a reserve ID. For details and registration.
For children, special design tours will include a workshop on a kiln, allowing for a brief hands-on experience and creative activity.
