The Israeli start-up MineOS, one of the global leaders in privacy protection, risk management and regulatory compliance, announces the strategic sale of the consumer privacy app it developed to McAfee, one of the world’s oldest and most recognized cybersecurity giants.

Following the transaction, the app developed by MineOS will be integrated into McAfee’s consumer protection platform and will continue to serve as a dedicated interface for managing user privacy. The deal marks McAfee’s first acquisition of Israeli technology in over a decade, and about four years after the closure of its local operations in Israel.

Kobi Nissan, CEO of MineOS: “The deal represents a clear vote of confidence in the privacy and artificial intelligence solutions we developed at MineOS and marks a significant milestone for us. It reflects our journey from a consumer product to a company with a leading enterprise platform. The technology we developed will continue to operate as part of McAfee and serve users around the world, while at MineOS we will now focus all our resources on accelerating growth in the enterprise market. With the AI agents we developed, privacy and compliance processes that are typically managed manually become autonomous and controlled — in a precise, fast, and consistent way that builds long-term trust.”

Through the app developed by Mine, launched in early 2020, millions of users worldwide discovered where their personal information was stored, understood who held it, and were even able to request its deletion easily and simply.

Thanks to its accessible user interface, the app was considered one of the most innovative consumer solutions in the field of online user privacy protection. Following the sale, MineOS will focus its resources on further developing and enhancing the world’s first autonomous platform for managing privacy, risks, and compliance with artificial intelligence regulations.

The platform, designed for organizations and already serving customers such as Wiz, HelloFresh, Miro, SharkNinja, Selfridges, and Ford, was launched in 2021 and is based on a network of autonomous AI agents that perform processes such as continuous data mapping, automation of data subject requests, vendor risk management, and AI oversight.

Thanks to its unified user interface, the platform enables organizations to work faster, meet evolving regulatory requirements in privacy and AI, and reduce risks without overloading privacy, IT, and compliance teams with manual processes. Due to these capabilities, in recent years the company has been recognized by G2, Gartner, and Forrester as a global leader in the field.

MineOS was founded in Israel in 2019 by Gal Ringel, Gal Golan, and Kobi Nissan. In 2023, the company raised  $30M in a Series B round led by Battery Ventures, with participation from the funds of PayPal, Nationwide, and Google’s AI Fund. The company operates in Tel Aviv and Boston and employs 50 workers.
