Flying Carpet is expanding its destinations for the upcoming winter season and is launching a direct flight to Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. The flights will operate using leased aircraft from Flyyo starting October 23, twice a week – on Mondays and Thursdays. In addition to the regular route, the company will operate special flights during the Jewish High Holidays departing on September 30, October 3, 8, and 12 to meet growing demand.
The company offers several travel options: Flights only starting at $379 (including luggage), vacation packages of 3/4/7 nights starting at $599 for 3 nights (including transfers with a local representative and a variety of hotels with breakfast), and guided tours with an Israeli guide who will offer trips through Bulgaria’s landscapes and nature alongside a taste of the local culture and historical sites.
“We are excited to expand our destinations for the upcoming winter season and return to flying to Sofia, a favorite destination among Israelis,” said Oren Cohen Magori, VP of Marketing and Sales at Flying Carpet. “The new route and flights operating during the upcoming holiday season will increase competition and allow the Israeli public to reach the destination at fair prices.”
Why Sofia? According to Cohen Meguri, Bulgaria’s capital is considered an affordable destination offering a European experience and rich culture, alongside vibrant nightlife, casinos, and shopping at prices significantly lower than in Israel. Additionally, this year there is another attraction for sports fans: Hapoel Tel Aviv’s home EuroLeague games will take place in Sofia, which could attract more visitors to the Bulgarian capital.
