August has already came to an end, and all the major brands are selling their new TVs in Israel, whether it’s Samsung, Sony, TCL, LG, or Xiaomi. If you’re looking for a large screen for your living room, you won’t have trouble finding a model that suits you.
Samsung – AI Assistant on OLED Screens
Samsung has launched several OLED screens that excel in rich colors and perfect blacks, while of course integrating AI technology that brings some of the AI capabilities from its smartphones to the big screen (alongside other features suited for the TV experience).
The Click to Search feature offers the ability to discover the actor appearing in a series or get details about content displayed on the screen with the push of a button. Another feature likely to appeal to people is translation. Not all content we want to watch is translated, and Samsung TVs can do this through a feature called Live Translate, based on a built-in AI translation model. Another new feature is Generative Wallpaper, which allows users to create their own images and display them on the big screen.
Samsung’s flagship model is the S95F, which offers a solution that prevents light reflection on the screen (called Glare Free), allowing comfortable viewing in well-lit rooms with sunlight. In last year’s S95D model, this worked excellently and even managed to provide a better picture when exposed to sunlight.
Samsung also uses AI to adjust picture and sound settings according to the room’s lighting and noise, as well as the content being watched. The integrated NQ4 AI Gen 3 processor can upgrade the video quality being viewed to 4K resolution.
Price: Starting from NIS 11,700 for the 55-inch model up to NIS 20,000 for the 77-inch model
Sony – Merging Screen and Frame into One Smooth Surface
The Bravia 8 II TV features the Slim One Slate design, which merges the screen and frame into one smooth surface, while the back of the aluminum stand disappears from view when viewed from the side.
The Bravia 8 II comes with a QD-OLED panel. This panel has advantages over the regular OLED technology, offering higher brightness levels, a wider color gamut, and a lower risk of burn-in.
The screen comes with Sony’s XR processor and XR Triluminos Max technology, which improves the display of natural colors while maintaining vitality. Additionally, the processor reportedly enhances high-color purity and the wide color range of the panel.
The XR processor also includes an AI-based scene recognition system, which identifies and analyzes data more accurately and then optimizes the image. According to Sony, another of its technologies – XR Contrast Booster – makes this OLED model the brightest in the company’s lineup.
For sound, Sony integrated Acoustic Surface Audio Plus technology, which uses the screen as a speaker to emit sound directly from the center, rather than from the sides or back.
Price: 55-inch model – NIS 13,000; 65-inch model – NIS 14,600 (official importer: Isfar)
TCL – Bang & Olufsen Speakers
TCL’s new models include the C8K and X11K. These models are based on QD Mini LED technology, which uses smaller LEDs than regular lights, providing better precision in lighting, contrast, and brightness. Brightness levels reach up to 5,000 and 6,500 nits. The screens also support a 144Hz refresh rate with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), making it a delight for gaming enthusiasts.
The TVs’ speakers come from the luxury audio brand Bang & Olufsen, featuring Beosonic technology, which adapts the sound according to the content displayed (movies, music, or gaming).
The C8K model, available in sizes from 65 to 98 inches, offers 5,000 nits of brightness, up to 3,840 separate lighting zones, and supports HDR10+, Dolby Vision IQ, IMAX Enhanced, and HLG standards.
Prices: 65-inch model – NIS 5,500; 98-inch model – NIS 18,000
The X11K model, available in 85 and 98 inches, features precise dimming (FALD) with 14,112 separate lighting zones and TCL’s HaloDomain-All technology, which enhances contrast and detail. Brightness reaches up to 6,500 nits, and the screen supports the same image standards as the C8K. The TVs run on the Google TV operating system.
Prices: 85-inch model – NIS 16,990; 98-inch model – NIS 29,990
LG – High Brightness and Gamer-Friendly
LG’s G5 model from the evo AI series also offers improved viewing in sunlight thanks to the Brightness Booster Ultimate technology, which increases screen brightness up to three times compared to the company’s previous OLED models. This screen also uses OLED technology and targets gamers with a high refresh rate of 165Hz using VRR technology. The Alpha 11 Gen 2 processor enhances low-quality images to higher quality.
This screen also has AI capabilities, such as AI Welcome, which greets users by name and offers personalized content recommendations based on their preferences and viewing habits.
The AI Voice ID feature recognizes users’ voices and allows automatic profile switching and tailored content recommendations.
Prices: 65-inch model – NIS 12,400; 77-inch model – NIS 20,400; 83-inch model – NIS 29,800
Xiaomi – No Need to Buy a Separate Xiaomi Streamer
Xiaomi launched the TV A series in Israel through the official importer Hamilton. These TVs feature DLED panels (LED panels with direct backlighting rather than side lighting), while the TV A Pro comes with QLED panels (better panels than DLED, offering richer colors and higher brightness).
The new TVs support 4K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and MEMC motion smoothing (up to 60Hz in 4K). They also support HDR10 for a wide dynamic color range.
The TV A and A Pro series come with Google TV version 14, providing access to many streaming services, including Netflix, Disney+, as well as local providers such as Cellcom, yes, Partner, HOT, and Free TV.
For audio, the TVs come with 2 stereo speakers with a total output of 20 watts and support Dolby Audio, DTS:X, and DTS Virtual:X standards.
