The transportation app Pango has launched a new initiative aimed at raising awareness about children being forgotten in vehicles. Each time a user activates parking in a blue-and-white zone, a pop-up banner appears on the screen reminding drivers to check that no one has been left in the back seat. The message displayed reads: “A reminder for me to make sure I didn’t forget anyone in the back seat,” along with a button that says, “I checked, thank you.”

Pango stated that the initiative is being launched in light of the hottest days of summer — a period during which the risk of leaving children in closed vehicles increases. They further explained that the reminder appears just before exiting the vehicle in order to draw attention, raise awareness, and encourage personal responsibility regarding road safety.

According to data from the Yedidim organization, more than 6,000 children have been rescued over the past three years. In 2024 alone, 2,355 children were rescued from locked vehicles — four of whom died. An additional 51 children were forgotten but saved thanks to citizens who looked inside parked cars and called for help. Since the beginning of 2025, nearly 1,300 children have been rescued from vehicles.
