It’s now official: The price wars from the Chinese market are reaching Israel. Just a few days after the launch of the electric crossover Voyah Courage at a rock-bottom price, the third strategic Chinese launch of the week arrives — as Chery’s importer releases the hybrid Tiggo 4 at a relatively low price, about NIS 15,000–20,000 less than other similarly sized hybrid crossovers, including other Chinese models.
The hybrid version arrives a few months after the launch of the gasoline version, which despite its particularly low price starting at NIS 123,000, failed to make an impact in the market. The hybrid model, by contrast, is slightly less equipped — for example, it lacks a sunroof and has a different front design — but features a significantly more powerful (163 vs. 95 hp) and much more fuel-efficient drivetrain (almost 19 km/liter compared to 14 km/liter).
The price: Starting at NIS 136,000 — similar to the gasoline-powered Seat Arona and Hyundai Venue (starting from NIS 132,000), and NIS 15,000 less than the hybrid Toyota Yaris Cross, and about NIS 20,000 less than the MG ZS Hybrid (also from China) and the Dacia Duster Hybrid, Renault’s low-cost brand. Among these, only the Yaris Cross Hybrid has managed to become one of Israel’s top-selling models, with 4,400 deliveries in the first half of 2025, earning it fifth place.
Performance: The Tiggo 4 Hybrid has a naturally aspirated 1,498 cc gasoline engine producing 95 hp — the same as the gasoline version already sold in Israel — paired with an electric motor delivering 204 hp. The combined output is 163 hp and 26.5 kgm torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.9 seconds. The top speed is only 150 km/h, and the official fuel consumption is 18.9 km/liter.
Dimensions: Identical to the gasoline version: 4.32 meters in length, 1.83 meters in width, 1.65 meters in height, and a 2.61-meter wheelbase. The trunk holds 310 liters — relatively small for this segment — and currently lacks a spare tire, though one will be offered as an option in the future. The curb weight is 1,550 kg.
Equipment: The Comfort trim (NIS 136,000) includes a 12.3-inch display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, front and rear USB ports, dual-zone climate control with rear air vents, 17-inch alloy wheels, a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, and remote engine start.
The Luxury trim (NIS 138,000) adds an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera system, synthetic leather upholstery, and front parking sensors.
Safety: The Tiggo 4 has not yet undergone a public crash test. It includes forward and reverse autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and correction, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, and door-open warning for oncoming traffic.
A metallic paint option is available for an additional NIS 1,000.
Warranty: A relatively long warranty of 6 years or 150,000 km, with 8 years or 150,000 km for the electric motor and battery.
In recent months, Chery has managed for the first time to rank fifth among the top-selling brands in Israel, following Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, and Skoda — with nearly 11,000 deliveries and about 40,000 units sold over three years. It has overtaken BYD to become the best-selling Chinese brand in Israel. In the coming months, the company will also launch a hybrid version of its slightly larger FX crossover with more power than the Tiggo 4, as well as a new 7-seat plug-in hybrid model, the Tiggo 9.
