US President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform unveiled its new AI-based search engine earlier in August, only for the engine to begin providing users with information directly contradicting key claims Trump has promoted for years.

Trump’s Truth Search AI was presented as a response to the “liberal bias” of major chatbots. The initiative was intended to give Trump supporters access to information “aligned with the patriotic values” of the MAGA movement and to serve as a conservative alternative to big tech platforms.

But the AI tool, ironically powered by Perplexity AI, a company backed by big tech firms such as Amazon and Nvidia, has provided users with information directly contradicting the president.

According to tests done by the Daily Beast, the tool refused to validate Trump’s assertions of voter fraud in the 2020 election, instead stating explicitly that the election was not stolen.

Truth Search rejects Trump's January 6 assertions, Biden smears

It also rejected the claim that the Biden administration recorded the highest inflation rate in US history and dismissed the allegation of “widespread violence” during the January 6 Capitol attack.

Earlier this week, Trump held a press conference at the White House declaring a “public safety emergency” in Washington due to what he called “rampant crime.”

When the Daily Beast asked Truth Search, “Is crime in Washington out of control?” the AI responded: “No. According to the latest official data, overall crime rates and violent crime rates in Washington have been declining in 2024–2025, not rising.”

What is additionally interesting is that most of the sources Truth Search cites come from conservative outlets such as Fox News, the Washington Examiner, and Newsmax

Despite these contradictions, Truth Social has portrayed the launch of Truth Search as a success.

“Truth Search AI will exponentially increase the amount of information available to its users and make Truth Social an even more essential part of the patriotic economy," said Devin Nunes, CEO and chairman of Trump Media.
