Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff won reelection in Georgia on Tuesday, according to AP projections, defeating US President Donald Trump-backed Republican US Representative Mike Collins and bringing his party closer to control of the Senate.

The Jewish senator triumphed in one of the nation’s most competitive Senate races in a state Trump carried by two percentage points in 2024, underscoring Democrats’ ability to defend a key battleground. The Democrats must flip four Senate seats to gain control, having already flipped three.

Jewish Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro has also been declared the winner of the Pennsylvania gubernatorial race. He is considered a possible Democratic presidential candidate in 2028.

Another Jewish Democrat, Jared Moskowitz, won his reelection bid in Florida's 25th district against Republican opponent Scott Singer.

In New York's gubernatorial race, Governor Kathy Hochul is projected to defeat her Jewish Republican opponent, Bruce Blakeman.

In North Carolina, Democrat Roy Cooper won the Democrats’ first Senate seat in the state since 2008, defeating Republican candidate Michael Whatley. North Carolina Democrat Jamie Ager is additionally expected to flip the first Republican-held House seat in the state.

The Democrats flipped an additional Senate seat in South Carolina, where Annie Andrews defeated Darlene Graham, the sister of the late Senator and staunch Israel supporter Lindsey Graham.

Democrat candidates are expected to retain several additional Senate seats across northeastern states, with the results coming in as Trump watches the elections live at a White House East Room reception alongside cabinet officials and political advisers.

In Illinois, Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton is expected to defeat Republican Don Tracy and succeed veteran Senator Dick Durbin, who is retiring from political life.

In New Jersey, Democratic Senator Cory Booker is set to win a third term after defeating Republican Justin Murphy.

In Massachusetts, Senator Ed Markey is projected to defeat Republican John Deaton, after successfully defending against a challenge in the Democratic primary earlier this year.

Anti-Israel candidates win several House seats across US

Anti-Israel candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier, a Democrat, won the House race in New York's 13th district.

Chevalier addressed ending military aid to Israel in an X/Twitter post on Tuesday, claiming that Trump's announcement that the aid will end later this year "is not enough."

"We need to end US taxpayer funding for Israel’s war crimes, a full arms embargo, and the Palestinian right of return," she wrote.

In Colorado, 29-year-old Melat Bekele Kirus is set to become one of the most anti-Israel lawmakers ever to serve in Congress.

Kirus was fired from the law firm where she worked after criticizing how firms handled pro-Palestinian demonstrations following the October 7 attacks, having claimed the massacre was "the inevitable result of Israel's apartheid policies."

She further claimed that calls for the destruction of Israel do not constitute antisemitism, and has demanded an immediate arms embargo against Israel.

New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District saw the election of Democrat Dr. Adam Hawaoui, a former military physician and harsh critic of Israel.

Hawaoui, the second American of Egyptian descent to serve in Congress, served as a doctor in the US Army and participated in a medical mission to the Gaza Strip in May 2024, during which he reportedly performed 120 surgeries.

The doctor has called for a complete halt to US military aid to Israel, the imposition of an arms embargo, and the implementation of the Palestinian "right of return."

In April, he even stated his opposition to the Iron Dome defense system, arguing that it insulates Israel from the consequences of war. He has accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza, while also emphasizing that he opposes antisemitism.
