Wonder Woman is the biggest movie of the summer for US moviegoers, and so far the second biggest of the year, trailing only behind Beauty and the Beast. But Wonder Woman's slow but steady growth has given it a new title: the biggest non-sequel superhero movie ever, according to Forbes. That record was previously held by the 2002 live action Spider-Man film. Wonder Woman is also the first live action movie directed by a woman to cross $400m. in the United States and $800m. worldwide. The unbelievable success of the film means Warner Bros. will be pouring everything it has into the sequel, Wonder Woman 2, which is slated for release on December 13, 2019. That film has the power to smash the records set by Wonder Woman, as superhero sequels tend to outperform the originals at the box office. And soon the few comic book enthusiasts who didn't manage to see the film in theaters can enjoy it at home. Wonder Woman will be available for digital download from Amazon, iTunes and other streaming services starting August 29. The film will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 19. Wonder Woman cleaned up at the Teen Choice Awards last week, winning the spots for best action movie, best action movie actor for Chris Pine and best action movie actress for Gadot. And as for all that Oscar buzz? The Academy Award nominations won't be announced until January 23. The Golden Globes nominations, meanwhile, will be announced on December 11.
