Israel’s rising young sports star Ahavat Hashem Gordon thrilled viewers with a dominant win over his Turkish rival on Saturday night, but anyone dreaming of a high-profile match of a different kind is out of luck; he is in a serious relationship and already engaged.
A whole country seemed glued to the TV on Saturday night to watch a fight that, until recently, many people probably had not even heard about.
At the center of it was 19-year-old Israeli fighter Ahavat Hashem Gordon, who faced Turkish fighter Ali Koyuncu. Ahead of the fight, Koyuncu reportedly posted anti-Israel content on social media, which only raised the tension.
For anyone who is not exactly a sports fan, here is the short version: Gordon, whose unusual name helped make him instantly memorable, looked dominant from the opening moments and finished things quickly. He won by technical knockout after the Turkish fighter was bleeding and could not continue.
Gordon, nicknamed the “Golden Boy,” moved many Israelis with the win, and his social media following quickly climbed. His Instagram page has already passed 130,000 followers.
Gordon engaged to IDF field observer
But if anyone thought this might be the moment to try to win the young boxer’s heart, there is some disappointing news. Gordon is in a committed relationship, and more than that, he is already engaged.
The lucky woman is Oren Levi, who serves in the IDF as a field observer (a surveillance soldier). The two have been together for three years and, despite their young age, are already engaged. At the beginning of January, Gordon got down on one knee and proposed.
The couple regularly shares their affection on social media, posting photos from vacations and outings together. Levi also accompanied Gordon to Saturday night’s fight and later shared photos of the two of them online, along with her excitement and pride after his decisive victory.
