A family enjoying dinner and a fireworks display at the Magic Kingdom was greeted at their table by an unexpected guest: an opossum, the group told People Magazine on Monday after their furry encounter went viral on TikTok.
“Even the [opossums] came for the Disney dining experience,” TikTok user Shay wrote in the caption of her video published on November 22. “We definitely enjoyed the free entertainment.”
Shay told the Magazine that she, her wife, and her in-laws were vacationing in Florida and enjoying the festivities during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the resort’s Magic Kingdom park last month when the unexpected guest joined them.
While sitting to “Watch the madness” as guests left the park from the comfort of Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Dessert Party at the Tomorrowland Terrace, the marsupial decided to participate in the gaiety.
How are an opossum's dinner manners?
Shay did not initially notice the gatecrasher, believing initially that her wife was pointing to a parade. When she finally looked down, Shay said she saw the opossum “just chowing down.”
She recounted to People how she immediately thought, “This is hilarious. I was like, ‘Wait, I have got to record this. This is so funny.’”
“It actually made it great, we could not stop laughing,” Shay said. “It was so funny. It brought us so much joy.”
